Cindy Scharff is a founding Partner at Scharff Nyland Chambers LLP, serving the residents of Barrie, Ontario and surrounding areas.
After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario in 2001, Cindy stayed in London, Ontario and practiced Family Law for several years. In addition, during her time in London, Cindy taught courses in both Business Law and the Law Clerk’s Programs at Fanshawe College and served on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Community House, a high-security shelter for abused women and their children.
Upon the birth of her second child, well over a decade ago, Cindy made the move to Barrie and has been guiding the residents of Simcoe County in their family law matters ever since. She is happy to call Barrie her home.
Cindy has continued her community involvement in Barrie having taught courses in the Law Clerk and Paralegal programs at Georgian College and serves as a Dispute Resolution Officer in Barrie’s Superior Court of Justice – Family Court.
After practicing Family Law for over twenty years, Cindy has seen it all, handling a variety of cases from negotiation and collaborative matters to litigation. Employing her wealth of experience and exceptional listening skills, she has often been cited by clients as being a tremendously reassuring presence for them during the challenging journey of separation and divorce.
Cindy is passionate about guiding people through separation in a way that has the least emotional and financial toll on both her clients and their families. In order to further this goal, Cindy has been certified in Collaborative Family Law since 2006.
When Cindy is not assisting her clients, she spends her free time with her family (including the family pets) and can often be found enjoying live music as she is an avid concert goer. In fact, all her family pets are named after famous musicians or songs, and she is often challenging her family to compete with her in music trivia!
